Breakfast in Hotel Puntijar
Nicely located, roughly halfway Zagreb's old town and the foothills of Sljeme mountain, with ample parking space for those travelling by car. The ground station of Sljeme's funicular is less than a 20-minute walk from the hotel, a (taxi) drive into the city takes 10-15 minutes tops. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, radiating the almost 200 years of Puntijar's hospitality activities. Bathroom had everything we needed, including an impressive amount of water pressure in the shower and direct availability of hot water. The latter sounds simple and obvious but - as a frequent traveller - often is a disappointment... Reception & breakfast staff was welcoming and friendly, and fluent in English: no language barriers at all here! The neighbouring restaurant/culinary museum (Stari Puntijar) operated by the same family is worth mentioning, too. Ample room inside, and a large, shady outdoor terrace for those hot summer days & evenings. The restaurant features a very affordable menu, with dishes ranging from the obious steak or schnitzel, good soups and salads all the way to (game) dishes the Puntijars dug up from century-old Croatian cooking books. Plenty of choice for both the carnivore and the vegetarian! Beverages include red/white wine from local vineyard, as well as home made brandy ('Crognac') and liquours. Our waiter, Ali, was extremely service-minded and we could rely on him for recommendations in both the food and bev department.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Puntijar in Zagreb, and I must say, it was an experience steeped in history and comfort. From the moment you step into this hotel, you're enveloped by a sense of timeless elegance; every corner tells a story of Zagreb's rich past. Our room was nothing short of spectacular. The spaciousness was a luxury in itself, with a massive bedroom that felt like a suite from another era. The balcony was the cherry on top, offering a lovely view and a perfect spot for morning coffee or evening relaxation. Accessibility was a breeze for us, as the hotel is car-friendly with ample parking, yet it's also conveniently served by several bus routes, making it ideal for those exploring the city without a vehicle. The breakfast at Puntijar was delightful, featuring a variety of local and international options, all prepared with care. But what truly made our stay memorable was the staff. The woman attending to us was not just kind but genuinely welcoming, making each interaction feel like a warm embrace from a friend. If you're looking for a stay that combines historical charm with modern comfort and exceptional service, Hotel Puntijar is the place to be. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Zagreb who appreciates a touch of the past with all the conveniences of today.

This is a lovely hotel which mixes quirky, comfort and glamour into one. It is easy to find and has ample carparking for guests. We were given a warm welcome by the receptionist who showed pride in the hotel and explained it had over 1000 pictures on the walls - they are everywhere. Our room was massive and nicely furnished with quirky additions such as the TV being framed in a gold guilded mirror. The owner of the hotel runs a beer garden restaurant nextdoor and we very happily spent the evening with our dogs enjoying good food, friendly staff and the weird and wonderful items located everywhere.

This hotel is a really very exceptional, very authentic choice. You feel yourself in a very historic place with antique furnitures. Hotel is like an art gallery. I havent seen so much paintings in a hotel till now. Hotel has a very nice restaurant just next door and there is a very interesting cookbook museum next to the owners residence. Mr.Zlatko Puntijar invited us to visit the museum which was a great experiance. Thousans of cookbooks. Hotel was generally comfortable and breakfast was good and there was enough selection.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful which made our stay very special. The hotel is full of antique and vintage furniture and each room has a name.Mine was Jakob.Their restaurant located just across the car park is beautifully furnished like a banquet hall and the food and wine are very good and traditional. The owner gave us a tour of his private museum of cookery books and vintage plates..cutlery and so on.The breakfast was good. The rooms are quite big and vintage too..
